A Message From Lena Evans

Strategy meets stillness. Competition becomes consciousness.

I write to help people meet pressure with clarity, discipline with compassion, and competition with awareness.
My work explores the inner game—how attention shapes performance, how emotional regulation becomes a strategic advantage, and how conscious choice transforms not only how we compete, but how we live. I operate at the intersection of neuroscience and mindfulness, strategy and stillness, excellence and integrity.
As a lifelong competitor, entrepreneur, and community builder, I have spent decades inside high-stakes decision environments—at the poker table, in business, and in leadership. Over time, I came to see poker not simply as a game of cards, but as one of the most powerful training grounds for the mind: a place where emotional discipline, pattern recognition, risk calibration, resilience, and self-awareness are tested in real time.
That insight became the foundation of my first book, The Poker Powered Brain, which examines how poker strengthens cognitive fitness and mental resilience—skills that extend far beyond the felt and into everyday life.
My forthcoming book, The Mindful Competitor, deepens that inquiry. It explores presence under pressure and reframes competition as a path of awareness rather than aggression. Drawing from neuroscience, contemplative practice, and conversations with elite performers, the book asks a central question:
What becomes possible when awareness leads and striving softens?
Across all my writing, teaching, and speaking, my intention is the same:
to offer frameworks, stories, and practices that help people think more clearly, regulate emotion under pressure, and compete—internally and externally—with greater consciousness.
My work is informed by research, lived experience, global travel, and spiritual study. I believe mastery is not about control, but coherence—and that the most meaningful victories are the ones that leave us more whole.
This site gathers my books, essays, talks, and ongoing projects in one place. It is an invitation—to train the mind, steady the heart, and meet each moment with intention, clarity, and grace.

My debut book, The Poker Powered Brain: Play the Game. Train Your Brain., launched as a #1 Amazon Best New Release in two categories, affirming its resonance with readers seeking a deeper understanding of decision-making, emotional discipline, and cognitive training.
The book and its underlying philosophy have since been honored with multiple awards acknowledging both thought leadership and social impact. I am a recipient of the International Impact Award, recognizing work that contributes meaningfully to global conversations around leadership, mental resilience, and human potential. My writing has also earned an International Business Journal Award, highlighting its relevance to modern leadership, strategic thinking, and performance under pressure.
Additional recognition includes the Regal Summit Award, which celebrates innovation and influence in professional and creative fields, and the BookFest Award, honoring excellence in nonfiction that informs, inspires, and challenges conventional thinking. Together, these honors reflect a body of work that transcends genre—positioning poker not merely as a game, but as a powerful laboratory for training the mind.
Across awards, audiences, and platforms, my writing is consistently recognized for one defining quality: its ability to translate complex ideas into practical insight—helping readers meet challenge with clarity, awareness, and intention.

This is one of the most unique books I have read on brain health and mental acuity. It brilliantly uses poker as a framework to teach powerful lessons about cognitive performance, decision-making, and emotional discipline. Whether you are a fan or just someone looking to boost your mental edge, this book delivers.
What stood out to me is how practical and relatable the content is. Lena takes complex neuroscience and makes it easy to understand, all while connecting it to real-life challenges, both at the poker table and beyond. From improving memory, managing stress, and maintaining focus to handling pressure, the strategies in this book are backed by science and easy to apply.
